Schrodinger’s Cat

an experiment that spawned the theory
of many worlds
which states that each moment
each choice that is made
causes the universe to split
in two and on and on infinitely
like so many cells replicating
so that somewhere out there
or right here
there are other you’s and other me’s
living out different destinies
in adjacent and layered realities
we are here but not here
and there but not there
this life nothing but a veil
or a puff of air
and this skin a costume we wear
as we travel through time and space
