One of the things that attracts me about where I live is the icy North Atlantic and the majestic cliffs of Maine’s Downeast coast. In this painting, I wanted to evoke the icy waters bashing the ancient rock which I attempted to do by using only a palette knife and building paint layers as they dried.

As Adam (50)

“The mystery behind all form is at last named in a formula so convincing, so appealing, so satisfying, that distinction ceases; we forget that even this is not final, that beyond the expression, and apart from it, lies the whole immensity.” – The Vision of Siva

As Adam (47)

The unfettered clouds and region of the heavens,
Tumult and peace, the darkness and the light—
Were all like workings of one mind, the features
Of the same face, blossoms upon one tree,
Characters of the great Apocalypse,
The types and symbols of Eternity,
Of first and last, and midst, and without end.

– “The Simplon Pass” William Wordsworth

As Adam (46)

As a man traversing the whole earth,
Finds not anywhere an object more loveable than himself;
Therefore, since the self is so universally loved by all,
The man who loves himself so much,
Should do no injury to others.
” – Sona Thera
